For Those Who Don't Have Facebook

Back at the beginning of April, Logan and I had some professional photos done- Jas was out of town so he couldn't partake in any of the fun, but here are the images for everyone to see :) We have all of these downloaded in high resolution, so if anyone wants some of the prints, just let me know and we can email them to you or print and snail-mail them to you!

In case you hadn't heard...

Logan is WALKING!!...

Well, kind of...more like shuffling and then either falling in to something or falling on to something...but hey, we'll take what we can get! And I must say, he's the cutest little shuffler around! Here's a video I took today - I'm sitting on the couch and Logan, as you'll see, is cruising around the coffee table...it's a BIG leap from the safety of the coffee table corner all the way to the couch where Mommy is!

What a day!

Waking up early, then sleeping in, High-Fives for 2 years down, farmer's market walk, random prize winners, LOTS of veggies, recipe created, banged up baby, too small stroller, froggy sleeping, yummy celebratory dinner, too late for hot tub and ice cream instead!!

Here's our day in pictures!

We headed to the Farmer's Market this morning to get a few veggies for Logan and his food this week...we got avocados, broccoli, squash etc...as we were leaving, we were flagged down by a woman who told us every week they do a raffle for a basket of market goodies- well, the person who won the basket for today couldn't make it down to pick up the prize. She thought we looked like a nice family, and were one of the last groups to leave the market so she wanted to give the basket to us! Which was AWESOME- but 1. HOLY COW! That is a LOT of veggies! and 2. We'd bought SO much food on our own, I KIND of wanted to ask if we could return our already purchased goods since a lot of what we bought was included in the basket!

It finally happened...our BOY had his first "major" boo-boo today. He was doing his thing, cruising around the coffee table, when he had a misstep and came crashing down...on a coffee mug...OUCH! At first, while Jas saw him slam his face into the mug, he thought nothing was actually damaged and Logan was crying because the fall scared him...but after about 30 seconds a huge welt started growing on his forehead....a little while after that (After we applied some ice) a few more marks showed up...poor little guy! I think Jas was more worried/concerned than Logan as Logan went on his merry way the rest of the day.
The little guy (And the big guy) was OUT for about 2 hours this afternoon...seriously, he takes the BEST naps with Jason by his side!
As you may have wondered from the previous paragraph, it's not easy to put ice on a 10month old...so what do you do? Put on a movie...a brightly colored CARTOON movie...FINDING NEMO! We try to keep the TV away from Logan as much as possible, but in a situation like today, it worked out perfectly. As the picture directly above suggests, Logan was VERY comfortable while lounging on Daddy and picking his nose...he's SUCH a boy! But as the picture above this one would suggest, neither daddy nor baby lasted too long with the movie. I think Jas fell asleep 5 minutes in, and Logan was out 10 minutes in!
Poor Logan. Jas and I had a brilliant idea to venture out to the hot tub tonight. We knew that by the time we'd be ready to go, Logan would have been in bed for a long time. Since we weren't comfortable leaving Logan in our apartment as we ventured downstairs, we put him to bed IN his stroller so that we could just wheel him down there with us and he could remain asleep while we enjoyed the spa...problem is, when I Tried to put him in the regular seat of the UppaBaby, he wasn't having it...so I pulled out the basinette portion and put him in that...umm...there's a REASON why the basinette attachment is only used for babies 0-6months...he totally did NOT fit in it! Poor guy got as comfy as he could though...butt in the air and all!
When we finally realized the hot tub was not in the cards for the night, Jas took Logan out of the stroller and into his crib...this is the position he got into almost immediately.

Hilarious.

I didn't FORGET a card...I just ran out of time...

On Valentine's Day, I "got in trouble" because I didn't get Jason a card (We had clearly discussed the fact that we "were NOT doing anything" for Valentine's day...in my mind that meant no cards OR gifts...in Jason's mind, that meant no gifts because "we ALWAYS do cards" ayy yii yii...) - so I clarified a million times over that we WERE in fact doing cards for our Anniversary and that we were exchanging them on Saturday (Even though we celebrated on Friday) - he confirmed. The reason I was so adamant on getting clarification is because I had every intention in the world of actually getting a card....but it's 9:30pm on our anniversary and I am card-less...I just completley ran out of time this week and weekend. That's the only excuse I have...so, rather than write something up on a napkin or a scratch piece of paper and try to give it to Jason, I thought I'd write what I would have written in a card here on the blog....here goes!

Dear Jason,

I remember waking up on this day 2 years ago with a smile reaching across my face as I screamed "IT'S WEDDING DAY!" yes, the day was full of a lot of hoopla and getting ready, but more than anything, that day was full of the anticipation of one moment...one phrase that Icould not wait to hear: "I now pronounce you Man and Wife" that was all I needed that day. Forget the dress, the guests, the food, the photos...all I needed on May 14, 2009 was to know that I was your wife...and to have the security that I will ALWAYS be your wife. Thank you for letting me be this role in someone's life...in your life.
I love our life together - and I love you more and more every day. Thank you for being the most supportive, charming, handsome, intelligent, caring partner anyone could ever ask for. You have shown me this year, more than any of our years together, your strength in supporting me as your wife and friend- from helping me with Logan to helping me find my path in life - I know that you will always have my back and I couldn't ask for anything more from the man I call my husband. I can only hope that you feel that I am just as supportive.

I love you Jason with all that I am.

Happy 2nd Anniversary - I promise I'll get you a card next year...but you may have to remind me.

Love,
Ash

10 Months!

Again...I'm late...but hey! It is what it is...Our little man has changed quite a lot in the last 10 months...here are his stats as of now:

  • He can say "ooooh" "Woah" "No" "Mama" & "Dada"
  • He can flick his lips with his hands to make a fabulous noise.
  • He loves casting spells (Points a finger at you VERY seriously and shakes his finger...I'll try to catch it on video)
  • He can stand (on a bed, on a hill...anywhere!)
  • He can cruise around the coffee table like its nobodies business
  • He loves to cruise up and down the living room with his "walker"
  • He can stand up on his own from nothing (I have yet to witness this, but according to Lisette, he was sitting in the middle of the room and just STOOD UP!)
  • He's eating solids like a champ- his new favorite dish (and the only one currently available at Cafe Laub) is a pasta, tomato, zucchini, onion combo that smells DIVINE and i think I'm going to make a serving for Jas and I to enjoy soon!

Sorry I don't have any height or weight stats for you...Logan has only gone in to the Dr. to get a quick shot since his last appointment at like 8 months (I'm not a fan of these spaced out appointments, but it's how they do it at our pediatrician's office) but if i had to give you a rough guess, I would say he weighs about a million lbs and is really long :) hehe. I'll try to remember to weigh and measure him this weekend for everyone :) He's definitely in the 100th percentile for cuteness though...obviously.

Enjoy!

Wildflower!

A couple of weekends ago, Jason and some of our friends participated in the very popular "Wildflower Triathlon" Jason, Randall and Bryan were part of a 3 man team (PolyBuilt) that completed the tri via a relay. Jason had the swim leg, Randall the bike and Bryan the run. Initially, Jason thought he got the short straw when they were deciding who was going to do what...because really, who likes swimming...especially 1.2 MILES of swimming? But Jas trained REALLY hard (even hired a personal coach!) and i knew he was going to do well. He ended up finishing in about 40 minutes (yes, FORTY minutes! Amazing right? One of the other girls in our group, however, finished in 28 minutes...I know...ridiculous!), and then the rest of the day was his to enjoy (See picture with beer below), relax, and hang out! Randall and Bryan on the other hand- were not so lucky! It was a HOT day and Randall had to ride 50 miles on a bike and it took him about 5 hours...gross. Bryan, had to run13 miles and it took him a little over 2 hours- even MORE gross! Btu they all did an AWESOME job and I'm so proud of all of them and the rest of the triathletes! Our good friend Becky (Randall's wife) and Suz competed in their own relay as well.

Logan and myself were excellent cheerleaders and photographers (or models if your Logan) along with our good friends Greg & Deanna from Walnut Creek who drove down to the race just to hang out for the weekend! Thanks guys, it was great seeing you both!

Close up!

5 hours later, Randall is done with the bike ride! YES! Nice Work!

Logan's first shoulder ride! While we wait for Bryan to cross the finish line!

Becky done with her 13 mile run! Nice work!!

Bryan- Mr. Smiles ready to cross that finish line for Team PolyBuilt! Great Job!

It was an awesome weekend spent with friends. We opted not to camp this year, but next year I think we'll give it a whirl! Logan did AMAZING and both Jason and i were so impressed that he was able to nap and stay in his normal happy mood all day despite the heat, and being in a stroller 90% of the time!

Mother's Day in Photos

Happy Mother's Day!! It was a great day which didn't start until 9am (Woo Hoo for sleeping in!), a homemade breakfast by my love, cards and gifts from my two guys, then a 6 mile walk along the beach with Logan and Jason! Thanks for making me feel special boys!

PS- I much prefer having Mother's Day with my child on the OUTSIDE, rather than still in the womb!

It can be so hard to be mobile...

There's a reason why Logan has recently learned the word "NO!"

Logan looks pretty excited about the Dyson (Almost as excited as Jason)

We gotta start cleaning up the dirt around here...
